Dear Parents,
As we begin the second semester, it’s a
good time to reflect upon what our school community has
achieved and where we are going. Students will be receiving
their report cards on Friday, January 26th.
We are very pleased with their overall performance in the
first semester.
We are especially proud of our eighth
graders. There have already been four scholarships awarded to
members of the class. Erin Whitham has received scholarships
to St. Basil’s Academy and Bishop
McDevitt High School. John Tran has received scholarships
to LaSalle High School and Holy Ghost Prep.
There has been a very high rate of acceptances received by
students to the high schools of their choice. They have worked
hard and have succeeded in achieving their goals.
In this newsletter you’ll be reading about
many of our academic endeavors, including the Science Fair in
February, the Octathlon in March, and the many daily
outstanding achievements in our "Classroom Clips."
Our extracurricular activities continue to
provide students with enrichment after school hours, including
Choral Group, Newspaper, Math, Science and Forensics Clubs,
Future Cities, and the theatrical production of "Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs" scheduled for March 30th.
Our boys’ and girls’ CYO basketball teams are
demonstrating skills and a spirit that is very contagious. Our
fifth and sixth grade Confirmandi students will be attending a
special retreat on Thursday evening, January 25th.
Most importantly, our liturgies and daily prayer services
connect us to our religion in a very special and meaningful
way.
Next week we will celebrate Catholic Schools
Week. The week will be filled with many wonderful activities
and events for our students and families. It will begin with
an opening Family Mass on Sunday, January 28th at
10:30 AM, followed by an Open House in the school. I urge you
to mark your calendar and plan to be here for that special
day. A calendar of events is attached to this newsletter. We
are always very proud of our school, and next week there will
be many opportunities to celebrate our school community.
As always, thanks for everything you do for
Our Lady Help of Christians School. I’m looking forward to
seeing you during Catholic Schools Week.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Kathleen Ganster,
Principal
