Custody Parents will notify the Principal of their
marital status and custody on their registration form. This
will help the Principal make effective decisions when the need
arises. A copy of the official custody agreement must be in
the child's records at the Pre-school. Any change in custody
needs to be reported immediately to the Principal and a copy of
the new agreement must be submitted. In the case where parents
are not living together and the children of school age are
involved, parents should become aware of their legal rights with
regard to access of information regarding records for their
children. This is solely the responsibility of the
parent. Our Lady Help of Christians Pre-school will
gladly comply with any request from a parent for information about
his/her child provided that the request can be legally
substantiated. Emergency School Closing Who Makes
the Decision ?
The individual public school district superintendents are
responsible for the closing of the schools before the day
begins of the early closing of schools once the children are
already in session. The decision is based in the information
received from the radio, the local police, and the transportation
companies which tell the OLHC elementary school if and when the
buses will run. Since the decision is based on safety, the
Pre-school will comply with the decision of OLHC elementary
school. When Is the Decision Made ?
The decision to close schools is made by 5:00 AM so that the radio
stations can be notified. If Abington is closed, then OLHC
Pre-school is closed. Parents should listen to KYW radio for
school closings; OLHC's number is M410. A recording on the
school answering machine (215-887-8503 or 215-887-3067) will also
be made by 6:00 AM. Chain Calls
Chain calls will be made whenever there is a weather-related early
dismissal. For early dismissals, chain calls will be made as
soon as we are notified that schools are closing early. For
this reason, parents must provide a daytime phone number
where they can be reached. What are the Procedures for a
Delayed Opening of School ?
If OLHC School has a two-hour delayed opening, the Pre-school will
open at 10:00 AM and CARES will be available in these days. What
Happens to Morning Sessions at the Pre-school When There are
Delayed Openings ?
Because we have a great variety of programs in the Pre-school, all
stydents are welcomed to come at the announced time of the delayed
opening. Once the school day begins, all other programs run
according to the regular daily schedule.
